Ben (https://springgardenrecords.com/ben-oneill) was the second Artist-in-Residence at the Community College of Philadelphia. The tracking sessions for his album, Gemini, are a great example of capturing the energy of creation as it happens. These were sessions that called on-the-fly decisions both in the analog and digital domains. Songs were created, re-created, and really pushed to their limits. The breadth of talent in and around this album is wild. But what else would you expect from a guitarist equally comfortable in a small classroom as he is on stage in an arena.

I met Jamie in 2012 when my band, Restorations, was on a tour in Australia. We kept in touch over the years and when I starting working in audio full time, we talked about working on a remote project together. Those talks led to me mixing the album Sunset Months, an expansive and captivating work that fits with the grand scale of his country’s natural beauty. With the time differences being what they are, this wasn’t just a mix, it was an exercise in the power of communication. I’m really proud of how this album came out. Frances is easily one of the most dynamic, unique voices in music. Their performances are instantly recognizable whether solo or with their incredible band, Hop Along. With a figure-eight pickup microphone catching amp bleed from only one side of the room, this was a fun and challenging recording to bring into a natural feeling balance.
